About SheSharp

SheSharp is a non-profit organisation based in The Netherlands, dedicated to making it easier for women and non-binary people to enter, stay, and grow in the Tech industry. SheSharp was founded 8 years ago, and is run by a team of part-time volunteers and funded through donations. We provide a community-based platform for women and non-binary people to explore their career interests and be amplified; we hold in-person and online events, manage a growing online community, run career development programs, promote our community members, and offer scholarships towards learning.

At SheSharp, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse community that celebrates the unique perspectives and backgrounds of all individuals. We value intersectionality, understanding that each person's lived experiences are shaped by the intersections of their race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ability, religion, and other facets of their identity. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply, as we believe that diverse teams drive innovation and success.

Our Values

[Annotated version]
Growth in Curiosity:
We choose to explore possibility, over maintaining the status quo, and meet new ideas with an open mind. It is better to fail than never try. We start small and iterate.

Quality over Quantity
Simple is often best - we aim to avoid complexity with less. We choose to provide high value and engaging experiences for our community, even at the cost of having more.

Strength in Diversity
Together, we are wiser and stronger than alone. Our collective perspectives and experiences lead to more creative and better ideas, and we encourage challenging ourselves and each other. We operate as a non-hierarchical (decentralised) collective leadership, and let our community needs steer us. We foster collaboration with our community.

Make it Accessible
We aim to bring information and opportunities into the open as much as possible - to provide equal and free access to each other and for all in our community.

Humans over Objectives
We are better together and welcome all. SheSharp is built on community; a group that is collectively stronger and lifts one other up as we climb. We approach one another with kindness and curiosity, and assume positive intent.

The Role

We are seeking someone to be our new Data Manager. They are responsible for developing and maintaining our data collection, storage, and analysis approach to enable SheSharp to operate in a more efficient and effective way that is informed by data. They will help our team to identify gaps and opportunities in what we do, and help us make better and less biased decisions regarding the impact and value of our work.

This role collaborates regularly with with all other team members, to understand our team’s data needs and help us find solutions. While they may build and maintain a framework and models (e.g. survey templates, define processes) that support efficiency, their primary responsibility is ensuring that we have a working system that fits our teams needs and is developed with the rest of the team. We don't need a perfect system, but we want to be better. Please note that our budget and resources are small so we are looking for someone who is able to work with a lean approach.

Base responsibilities:
  • Attending weekly team meetings (primarily online, occasionally in-person in Amsterdam)
  • Advise our team how best to gather and analyse insights, ideally in a self-serve way
  • Manage our data setup (own/maintain our storage and system)
  • Ensure our data is trustworthy and usable
  • Data management compliance and data policies (e.g GDPR)
  • Supporting data reporting, which can be used internally and externally

Example Initiatives:
  • Design a community survey or similar for a regular feedback loop
  • Perform end of year reporting of what we have done and its impact
  • Define and establish our data management system (inc tool selection)
  • Define our data policies, and how we uphold them
  • Collaborate with the directors on reporting

Who you are:
  • You have a keen interest in making the tech industry a more diverse and welcoming place
  • You are based in The Netherlands
  • You are a data analyst or have worked in a related role/with data
  • You have experience with experimentation (hypotheses and validation)
  • You have experience with data collection (e.g. surveys) and know best practices
  • You are able to design and setup a system for managing and using data
  • [Nice to have] You can automate data collection/analysis/reporting for us

Above all, we are looking for someone who is aligned with our mission and enjoys collaborating with a team. Due to the unpredictable nature of how we work, we believe that someone who is comfortable with ambiguity, is organised, and can work independently and autonomously, will be most successful in this role. We would love for them to propose ideas for the team and challenge us on our perspectives, and we will do our best to create an environment where that is possible.
